Originally released November 2008 as the blue lines; these are the limited (sound the trumpets) Red lines. Yay! Yea I know right. They’ll be releasing this Saturday; 1/24,/09 at Leaders brand new downtown location (672 N.Wells) and online. Size 8-15 will be available. The last pair released were available for about $150 so you can expect to pay around the same amount for these; if not more...who knows. The “Leaders1354 Jam” is made up of metallic silver, 3M, perforated suede, crackled leather, patent leather, premium leather, ostrich, and croc’d leather. The sole inspiration was from CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) train system map and the actual train. Chicago operates around the red, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple, brown, and pink line trains so they’re all represented by the speckles. The red and blue line trains the cities major lines and both run close to both store locations (hence the two colorways). The transparent blue tinted out sole represents Lake Michigan with the Chicago Transit map visible through it. I myself am a patron of South Chicago and a known citizen of the main line but I always find myself at Leaders somehow...If your gonna order online...wake up early...Awwwwwt!

Florence and The Machine!

Everyone who knows me knows that I'm totally into this type of music. I was on to people like M.I.A.,Uffie, and Adele wayyyy before other people in the states, because I seek these unique sounds. People never give me my credit. But more often than not, a few weeks after I'm on to a band , I'll start seeing them pop up on American music blogs, or I'll hear DJs hitting their tracks. And within a month or two, they're on SNL or Letterman or whatever, and voilá, history.





So, back to this episode above. Russell introduces me to Florence Welch, the voice behind Florence and the Machine, and I in turn am introducing YOU to her:). Their Myspace profile describes their work as " Grindcore / Acousmatic / Tape music / Melodramatic Popular Song," and you can get a taste by listening to tracks here, or watching both of the music videos embedded below (more on their YouTube channel here). I really dig the psychedelic-emo-crazy-art vibe.

The band's Wikipedia page explains that "[their] music has received praise across the British music media, especially from the BBC who have played a large part in Florence And The Machine's rise to prominence by bringing them into the spotlight as part of BBC introducing." They've been playing high on the headline list at some of the more prominent music festivals in the UK, and that's where our Russell caught up with them for today's conversation. We also get an impromptu, back-of-the-trailer performance from Florence in this episode, between sets at Standon Calling.

Look like spyshots of what looks to be a slimmer and keyboardless successor to the Android powered G1 have leaked onto the Web.Gizmodo published the outta focus shots early Wednesday morning, and the consensus is that they look pretty genuine, complete with HTC branding (HTC being the manufacturer of the current T-Mobile G1) on the front and back. Besides the apparent 3.2-megapixel camera, and what looks to be a slimmer, sleeking shell (a welcome change from the bulky G1), the supposed G2 photos are most interesting for what they don't show: a physical keyboard.The G1, of course, has a slide-out QWERTY keypad which is slippery as hell, and the current version of Google's Android OS doesn't allow for a virtual keypad—well, not yet. So, when might we see the G2? Think mid-May, according to Gizmodo's undercover operative. Still no word from T-Mobile or GTC, of course. Awwwwwwt!

I know we all feel like we made it and we did by turning the blue sea into red on November 4th, but to make this forward progress we've all been waiting for we just cant push him in our direction...we all need to walk that path together yo. i Dig ur Style

Wanna know what I'm listening to?...who cares if you don't. Listen anyway. So I'm in love with this band named The Ting Tings. Their sound is so "fun". Quite refreshing. A breath of fresh air. (let me shut up). Anyway, you should really check them out. Its always great to like someone, and then when you dig deeper, you find all talent underneath. That is EXACTLY what happened in this situation (obviously...otherwise I wouldn't have stated the random fact in the previous sentence). ANYwhooo, the Ting Tings consist of the wonderful Katie White and Jules De Martino. Both do vocals and drums. Also Katie plays the guitar and Jules handles the electronics. They got their name from a chinese girl that Katie knew named, Ting Ting...which so happens to mean "band stand" in mandarin. Wasn't that fate?

Perspective Chair

“I had often wondered what it’s like to truly be in love,not lust for once..So I decided not to ask what it was like in someone else’s shoes or what it was like to sit in their seat..I decided to sketch out my own experiment; the perspective chair.”

Dope. But Ergonomically the chair seems extremely uncomfortable. But hey. sometimes love is too.

It was designed by Pharrell in collaboration with Domeau & Pérès who built it and will be making the additional chairs. The chair, as well as another chair design and a table will be part of a show in Paris at the prestigious Emmanuel Perrotin Galerie. The show will be from October 21st 2008 until January 10th 2009. The chairs will be available in a few colors and only 4 of each will be sold. The chair below represents the love between a woman and man.

Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse - Skate Deck + Trunk

I know I know... I'm supposed to be vacationing (actually I'm training for an aggressive internship) right? But I love my 1824ers SO much that I put the books down for a minute. Anyhoo, 1824 Fashion editor, Lauren Davis, felt that this was just too dope not to post:

Ahead of a retrospective exhibition at New York’s Deitch Projects Gallery as well as the release of The Stephen Sprouse Book by Roger & Mauricio Padilha, luxury goods label Louis Vuitton will transform its SoHo flagship into a temporary showcase by the late Stephen Sprouse. Covered the store front in its entirety will be Sprouse’s signature graffiti in neon and vinyl, while a 6-foot neon light installation of Sprouse’s Rose design will be hung at the window.

Come this Thursday, January 8th, the store will become the debut point for LV’s latest, the Rose Collection, inspired by Sprouse’s previous work. The new collection will be available at all LV retail locations on February 2nd. However, 2 limited edition items will only be available at the SoHo flagship – 3 sets of skate decks imprinted with Stephen Sprouse’s graffiti + an unique Louis Vuitton Monogram skateboard trunk (seen above), and 70 units of Stephen Sprouse “Roses” T-Shirt. The skate deck and trunk set will sell for $8,250 each. The limited edition t-shirt will be available for $250 each. All proceeds will be for 3 charities centered on the promotion of art in NYC: Free Arts NYC Program, Sprouse Estate, and Stephen Sprouse Memorial Scholarship Fund at National Academy of Design.

Wolverine Trailer: New X-Men Origins

I meant to post this weeks ago around the time when "The Day The Earth Stood Still" showed in theaters , but forgot. First, let me state that "The Day The Earth Stood Still" is one of the worst movies of 2008. It was HORRIBLE. A waste of eight dollars; But the experience wasn't all bad, I got to see one of the best movie trailers that I've ever seen in my 22 years. The Wolverine: The X-Men Origins, kicked all type of ass. It was epic.This is a movie that has not had the best buzz though. Early word came out that the script was terrible, and then we even started hearing credible word that people in the studio itself were really unhappy with how the film had come together. Not good news at all.

So i can’t tell you at this point if Wolverine will be either amazing based on the trailer or absolute train wreck of a movie based on the rumors… but I can tell you with absolute certainty that the trailer is just...astounding! It was far more entertaining to watch than the actual movie of The Day The Earth Stood Still, that's for damn sure.

And I must not forget, Liev Schreiber, whom by the way, looks absolutely amazing as Victor Creed (Aka Sabertooth) as we all knew he would. I’m still not sure how they’re going to reconcile the fact that another totally different incarnation of Sabertooth is in the original X-Men movie though.

And yes, we do see Gambit in the trailer. A significant amount of Gambit too. As a matter of fact one of the opening lines in the trailer (1:28) is Wolverine saying “I know who you are… GAMBIT”, proceeded by shots of Gambit throwing charged up cards and holding a battle staff. Love it! I was especially excited to see a young Storm in the movie! (yes, I'm a Marvel girl).

Scheduled to hit theaters May 1. We Shall See if it lives up to the trailer.

The Future of Air Jordan

Starting now, the Air Jordan will no longer follow a numerical installment like the past (I - XX3) but rather be named after the release year. This means look for the Air Jordan 2009 (not to be confused with Jumpman 2009) later this year. Since Jordan Brand and Nike are both masters at throwing out decoys, it is a little premature to confirm that this is exactly how the final product will look when the shoes release in February, but it should give us a pretty good indication. ~New Year's Resolutions for the New Fool~

1. Wash your hands BEFORE and AFTER using the bathroom...
I would think this one would be self evident and all that...but somehow, I think it isn't. Look...EVERYTHING has germs, including you. Washing your hands before using the bathroom will prevent you from putting today's germs on yourself, and washing them afterwards will prevent you from putting your private germ party on the rest of the world.

2. Use discretion in regards to forwarding texts...
Forwarded Texts...I hate them. But I'm tolerant of some, because they are either funny/insightful/or heartwarming. Cool. But if it's one that you get sent by someone, how about we delete the "FW:", okay? And if it's one of those "Send this to five people and back to the person who sent it to you", you don't REALLY have to send it back to them. That shit is extra stupid.

3. Stop being all caught up in time and these New Year's resolutions...like, for the rest of your days.
I may be alone in feeling like this, but it's a bit foolhardy to be so caught up in a "new" year and what not. Why? Because time, as we know it, is a man made aspect. How many seconds are in one minute, how many minutes in an hour, etc...of course, the 'seasons' and the whole premise of 'day and nite' were assisted by incorporating lunar and solar into the equation, but even still...MAN-MADE. There are various calendars out, such as Islamic, lunisolar (which incorporates both lunar and solar aspects), Julian, and Gregorian to name a few.

Here's why resolutions are stupid to me...for one, if you haven't even so much as thought or planned to change something prior to the 'new year' rolling up, you aren't about to blaze shit. Old habits are tough to break, especially when there isn't a deep commitment tied to WHY you're doing it. "Oh...it's my New Year's Resolution..." That's not cutting it. Most people EXPECT to break their resolutions, and have been doing so religiously like it's taking communion. Don't send yourself off. I suggest you do something because you want to do it...not because it's some type of ill-fated prerequisitve to you stepping into a 'new year'. If you lived elsewhere in the world, you may not even be coming upon your New Year...so what you gonna do, wait it out until October (our time)? lol...just saying...

4. Boycott McDonalds Chicken Nuggets...based off of the commercial alone.
Seriously...not trying to shit on the aspiring singing career of dude in the commercial, but gotdamn fam...I don't think I've ever seen someone get paid to take such an obvious L before. If you somehow have managed to avoid such tragedy, STAY WHERE YOU ARE! Just think Tyrese's "Coca Cola" bus commercial...dipped in honey mustard sauce and sprayed with a squeeze of 'damngirlshowmelove'.

5. Learn how to fucking spell already.
In the age of online applications and job offerings, I shudder to think of all the folks who are butchering words in an attempt to perhaps sound 'highly intelligent' while filling out such aforementioned work. I mean, niggas are struggling to be cohesive and comprehendable statuses together...so Chase Bank's online app must look like Honors Physics at Harvard to them. And spare me with the shortening of words...although I must admit it's something I've never gotten. If the shit only reduces your sentence by two letters, you may as well type out the whole shit and look better about yourself. Ever heard 'practice makes perfect'? Or that it takes twenty one days of doing something for it to be a habit? How about that 'habits are tough to break'? Yeah...you heard that last one earlier. Well, you spelling like a complete moron is perfect practice....to become a complete moron. In twenty one days. Escape seems improbable at best.


I'm done talking shit...Hope everybody does it big and enjoys themselves in safe fashion.
